Do I need my own AI key?
Yes — NovelCanon is bring-your-own-key. You connect a key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or OpenRouter and pay the provider directly at cost, with no markup from us. Prefer not to pay? Free models are available through OpenRouter. Your key is encrypted at rest and only ever decrypted in memory to make a request.
Which AI models are supported?
The latest frontier models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google — plus hundreds more (including free options) through OpenRouter. Because you bring your own key, you choose the model and can switch any time as new ones ship.
Is my writing used to train AI?
No — we never use your work to train AI. Requests go directly to the provider behind your own key, and the major providers don’t train on API traffic by default. If you reach third-party models through OpenRouter, we explicitly ask those providers not to retain or train on your data.
