Terms of Service

These Terms govern your access to and use of NovelCanon, operated by its individual owner doing business as “NovelCanon” (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms.

Accounts & eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the higher minimum age in your jurisdiction) and provide accurate account information. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. One person per account; you may not share or resell access.

Plans, subscriptions & billing

The free plan includes 1 project, up to 3 chapters, and 20 AI actions per day. Paid plans are sold and processed by Polar, our Merchant of Record, and renew automatically (monthly or annually) until cancelled. Prices are shown at checkout and may include applicable taxes. Cancellation and refunds are covered in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Bring-your-own-key & third-party AI providers

AI generation requires an API key from a third-party provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or OpenRouter) that you connect yourself. Your use of that key is governed by your agreement with the provider, and all model usage costs are billed to you by the provider, not by us. We are not responsible for provider availability, pricing, rate limits, content policies, or the quality of model output. The in-app cost estimates and spending guardrails are best-effort conveniences, not a guarantee of what your provider will charge.

Your content & ownership

You retain full ownership of everything you create or import — manuscripts, notes, characters, worldbuilding, and exports. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, and transmit your content solely to operate and provide the service (for example, saving your drafts, running consistency checks you request, and generating exports). We claim no rights in your work and never use it to train AI models.

Acceptable use

You may not use the service to store or distribute content that is illegal or infringes others’ rights; to abuse, overload, or disrupt the service or the AI providers it connects to; to attempt to access other users’ data; or to reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the service. We may suspend accounts that violate these rules.

AI output disclaimer

AI-generated output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable, and similar output may be generated for other users. It is provided “as is”; you are responsible for reviewing, editing, and deciding whether to keep any output, and for ensuring your use of it complies with your AI provider’s terms and applicable law.

Intellectual property

The software, design, brand, and site content (excluding your content) are our intellectual property and are protected by applicable law. These Terms grant you a personal, non-transferable right to use the service; they do not transfer any of our IP to you.

Termination

You may stop using the service or delete your account at any time from account settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, with notice where practicable. On termination your right to use the service ends; you can export your content beforehand, and account deletion removes your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill; our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Indemnification, governing law & disputes

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your content or your breach of these Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and the courts of Pakistan have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply in your place of residence. Before filing a claim, please contact us — most issues can be resolved informally.

Changes & contact

We may update these Terms as the service evolves; material changes will be announced in the app or by email, and continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. Questions: support@novelhearth.com.
